What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a subtle hands-on therapy which supports your body’s natural ability to repair, restore and recover.
The light, listening touch used in Craniosacral Therapy is profound; it invites a slowing, a settling and a stilling of your body and mind to a state of deep relaxation where the intelligent forces in your body to self-heal can go to work.
CST is especially gentle, making it suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, including people in fragile or acutely painful conditions.
CST developed from discoveries about the body’s subtle physiology made by osteopaths in the USA over a 100 years ago. The findings show that all cells in the body express a rhythmic movement fundamental to life – which has been called ‘craniosacral motion’.
In response to physical injuries and/ or mental/ emotional stresses, the body’s tissues contract, creating patterns of strain and tension in the cells and tissues of your body.
When these experiences are overwhelming, the tissues can stay contracted and restrict the craniosacral motion and therefore your body’s functioning.
Over the years, these restrictions may give rise to problems such as back/ neck/ joint tension and pain; migraines/ headaches; insomnia; anxiety: depression; and other
dis-eases.

As a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, I am trained to feel the craniosacral motion and use it to sense where there is restriction in your body, and to offer an opportunity for the restrictions to unravel.
After a treatment, you will often notice an increase in energy levels and greater physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy is not intended as primary healthcare but to work alongside the relationship you have with your doctor.
